The 17th edition of the International Theater Festival for Children and Young Adults inaugurated in Hamedan on September 29.

The secretary of the festival Mostafa Rahmandust expressed his pleasure over the holding of the festival in its “hometown” of Hamedan. The last event was held in Isfahan.

At the start, Rahmandust called upon the children to recite “One Hundred Rubies” together. Composed by Rahmandust himself, this popular poem is found in Iran’s elementary school text books.

Also attending the ceremony, Hamedan Provincial official Ali-Akbar Famil-Karimi welcomed artists and guests to the city and expressed his hope that the festival would boost children’s theater in Iran.

Other artistic performances and contests were held for those children who attended the opening ceremony of the festival, which will run until October 3.
