The winners of the 11th Festival of Student Puppet Theater were announced at Tehran’s City Theater during a ceremony on Saturday.

Renowned artists Reza Kianian, Marzieh Borumand and Hamid Jebeli were the guests of honor for the ceremony, also attended by several other artists and scholars. The veteran stage director and scholar Behruz Gharibpur was honored during the formalities, his pictures going on screen in his place since he was not in Iran. The winners of the festival’s Street Theater Section were announced as follows:

Best Music Composer: the music troupe of the Shiravan Branch of the Islamic Azad University for “For Earth”

Best Puppeteer: Hamid Abedi for “The Leopard” Best Decoration Designer: Reza Baratzadeh for “For Earth”

Best Pattern and Idea: Reza Baratzadeh for “For Earth”

Best Director: Javad Radmehr for “The Leopard” Best Playwright: Nima Dehqani for “The Suspicious Case of the Bell Goat” The winners of the Stage Theater Section of the festival were also announced during the ceremony as follows:

Best Music composer: Enayat Khadem-Bashir for “The Daughters of the Mother Sea”

Best Stage designer: Gelareh Karami for “Adieu Mr. Violet”

Best Puppeteer: Parya Ali-Mohammadi and Azadeh Baqayian for “An Elegy for a Clown” Innovation and Creativity: “Pieces” directed by Mohsen Ranjbar Best Actor: Seyyed Amir-Reza Miraqa for “Hamlet in Popular Language”

Best Costume Designer: Parya Alimohammadi for “Sarnath” Best Director: Pupak Heidari for “Antigone in Wonderland” The motto of this edition of the festival, which was held from November 22 to 29, was “Universities’ Sympathy and Cooperation”.

The Iranian Artists Forum, the University of Art, the Honar Hall, the Niavaran Cultural Center and the Farabi Hall hosted the festival.
