Tehran literary festival has selected six works of fiction to participate in the next stage of competing for the best fiction prize.

National resistance theater festival

13th National theater festival with the topic of "Freedom of Khorramshahr" will be held end of Ordibehesht( 18th Apr 2010).

The jury starts selecting works on 25th Farvardin and introduce best of participating theaters .

Mohammad Rahmanpour the secretary of the event announced member of the jury; Mahmood Ustad Mohammad, Mohammad Reza Alvand and Saeed Behrouzi.

EDFC to hold Documentary film festival at Kish

Iran’s Experimental and Documentary Film Center (EDFC) plans to hold the first film festival on the Persian Gulf in late autumn on Kish Island.

The EDFC director Shafi Aqamohmmadian said that the center aims to hold the Iran’s Cinema Vérité Festival as well this year. The festival will be held in multiple sections, including feature film, documentary and animations.

Fourth Mirmiran Architecture award on the way

Winners of fourth round of Mirmiran architecture award with focus on architecture and water will be announced, 1st of Ordibehesht( 21st Apr), architects day in Iran.

According to the organisers of the event this years event has seen 50 percent increase in the participants attendance.

The Jury are Iraj Etesam, Darab Diba, Aliakbar Saremi, Shahab Katouzian, Seuyyed Alireza Ghahhari, Hamid Mirmiran and Abbas Kiarostami.

Four art biennials in 1389

Calligraphy, painting,graphics and sculptors are the importatnt biennials of new Iranian calendar.

Taheri who is adviser to visual art center of the country told reporters that the third national visual arts festival will also be held with better organization internationally and the call for this event will be published very soon. 

About biennials with specialized subjects in attentions,he said; we are aiming at young artists and the general artistic life of the country while trying to prepare grounds for communication with world

Qazvin calligraphy festival on the way

The first national calligraphy festival will be held on Ordibehesht 1389( May 2010) in Qazvin- North Tehran.

Saadalsaltaneh's Sara in Qazvin Bazar( an old building of Qajar era renovated recently) is the chosen venue for the biennial.  

Shafee the organizer of the event told reporters "The opening ceremony will be on 22nd Ordibehest and the event will continue for one week. Along the main event will be seminars and discussions about calligraphy and specially sessions for critics to discuss the works represented in the exhibitions."

He also hoped to internationalize the event, regarding the history of Islamic calligraphy in Iran. In this years festival organizers have invited Turkish and Emirate calligraphers to be present as members of the jury.

Celebrations on the occasion of world theater day

Khaneh Theater(Theater House) celebrations on the occasion of world theater day all will be staged indoor.

Iran Artists House is the venue for these events and will last for one week starting 9th Ordibehesht(29th May 2010).

Pomegranate satire festival held

The first festival of satire competition called "Anare Malas" ( a taste of pomegranate) was held in Yazd on 22nd of Esfand.

The best Stories were produced by Farhad Naj for the first prizei and Mohammad Mehdi Aminian Modarres and Ezzat Kamalian Mehrizi wone second and third prizes.

In poetry Kheyrollah Saeb won the first prize, Ali Akbar Zeraat second prize and Tayyebe Sadaat
