Seyyed Hadi Mirmiran was an Iranian architect whom this award was established in his honour. Third session of the award has been announced and the prize giving ceremony will be held on Third. The award’s aim is to appreciate the best works on town planning, urban design, landscape design, and restoration of historical sites and architectural excellence. Akkad Prize for Laila’s Birthday Director Rashid Masharawi’s “Laila’s Birthday” won Moustapha Akkad Prize of the 27th International Fajr Film Festival. “Laila’s Birthday”, an entry of the Eastern Vista section, is produced by Tunisia, Palestine and the Netherlands in 2008. The movie is the story of man struggling to reach home on time for his daughter’s birthday. |

Japan Wins Eastern Vista Simorgh
Japan’s “Best Wishes for Tomorrow” won the Crystal Simorgh Prize for the Eastern Vista (competition of Asian cinema) of the 27th International Fajr Film Festival. Takashi Koizumi’s 110-minute movie received the award from the jury of the section of the festival on February 3 at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall. South Korean Jeon Soo-Il awarded the best director of the section for his movie “With a Girl of a Black Soil”.

A Time to Love Earns Inter-Religious Simorgh Prize Noted Iranian director Ebrahim Forouzesh’s “A Time to Love” won the Inter-Religious Crystal Simorgh Prize of the 27th International Fajr Film Festival. “Forouzesh was awarded the prize because of his attempt to depict a pleasant picture of interaction among religions,” Ebrahim Fayyazi, a jury member of the section.

Japan’s Isaka Seeks the Truth “Walking My Life” by Japanese director Satoshi Isaka won the Crystal Simorgh Prize for best film of Seeking the Truth (Competition of Spiritual Cinema) of the 27th International Fajr Film Festival. Juan Antonio Bayona earned on Feb. 3 the best director prize of the section for his film “Orphanage.” An honorary diploma went to Iran’s Rasoul Sadr-Ameli as director of “Each Night Loneliness” and one to Fattaneh Malek-Mohammadi for starring in “Superstar”.
