Four plays on the opening of resistance theater festival

Three plays from Tehran and one play from Khorramshahr is staged on the first day of Resistance theater festival in Ghanoni Hall, Khorramshahr( on the border with Iraq).

" In the corner of cage" written and directed by Ameneh Pour Hossein from Khorramshahr and " Over an accident" written by Seyyed Ali Mousavian and directed by Alireza Mehran are the works in the competition section of the event presented on the opening day of festival.

In the guest section "Fishes on the Soil" written by " Fares Bagheri and directed by Saeed Najafian will be staged in Abadan's (another city on the border with Iraq) Samen-ul-aemmeh Hall along with " Khonakaye Khatme Khatereh" written by Hamid Reza Azarang .

Call for White Tree Literary Festival

The call for fiction competition called White Tree has announced it will prize the best works in science-fiction and fantasy genere.

Valimar literary group is the organizer of the event and the subject will be chosen by the participants with no limit on the number of works sent for participation.

The works should not be less than 5000 words and the final date for participation is 31st Tir 1389( 21st July 2010).

Call for 6th Asma ul Hosna competition

"Today Posters" has called on graphic artists interested in the "Holly Names" to participate in its sixth typography competition.

The competition will be held in the month of Ramadhan ( 21st Mordad- 18th Shahrivar) with participants from other parts of the world. In this years event there will also be another competition with the subject of religious posters. The works should be sent in digital forms with G1 formats and size" 35*25) with 300 dpi or ( 2953* 4135 pixels, through the competition website, with no more than 4 mega bytes in size. Posters are asked to be designed vertical with every artist having the chance to participate

Qazvin, ECO calligraphy capital

The Iranian city of Qazvin, birthplace of Mir-Emad was declared the capital of calligraphy for ECO member countries,

ECO Cultural Institute (ECI) director Hojjatollah Ayyubi announced on Wednesday. Qazvin is the birthplace of Mir-Emad who was the titan of the nastaliq script, a unique and ornate Iranian style of calligraphy. Speaking at the opening ceremony of the first international biennial of calligraphy on May 12 in Qazvin, Ayyubi said that a wide range of cultural activities are being carried out in ECO member countries, among which is promoting calligraphy.

First national festival of calligraphy in Qazvin

First national festival of calligraphy started work on 6th May in Qazvin north Iran.The festival includes works of Iranian artists from 29 provinces.

Preparation for the long awited festival started last year with it's secretariat held in Qazvin and according to the secretary of the event so far 408 artists with 571 works have succeded entering the competitions.

The festival representing one of the oldest art forms in the country includes different styles of calligraphy ;Nastaaligh with 278 works, 130 works of broken nastaaligh, 44 works of tholth and 72 works in modern inclinations of the ancient art.


It has been announced by the secretariat  that The participating artists were selected from among 730 artists who registered to participate inj the event.

Fifth festival of youth visual arts

Hoze Honari's visual art department has called artists to participate in the fifth festival of visual arts specializing on young artists in the fields of; painting, cartoon, calligraphy, poster, illustrations, design and sculpture.

The aim of the festival is to look for young talents among Iranian youth , according to the organizers.

The works must all be originals and be sent to the secretariat without any frames.Those participants sending volumes or paintings must include a photo of the work in digital form on a CD along with a A4 print.

1000 years of Shahnameh

On the occasion of Shahnameh millennium, 3rd commemoration of Hakim Abu'l-Qasim Ferdowsi will be held May 15 in Iranian Academy of Arts.

Public relations department of Arts Academy said that the commemoration will be held as a festival in which nomads will read Shahnameh and programs as athletic traditions will be held as well. The ceremony is slated to run May 15 from 10am in the Academy of Arts. As a part will be held on Shahmameh reading the festival will host artists from Isfahan, Kohkilooyeh and Boyer Ahmad, Khorasan, Lorestan, Khozestan, Boushehr and Qashqaee, Bakhtiyari and Kurd nomads.

Student theater festival in it's final

Thirteenth student theater festival held it's final ceremony in Vahdat Hall with honors to Naderi,Ghahramani and Kupal.

Tehran Intl. Book Fair

The 23rd Tehran International Book Fair was opened officially at the Imam Khomeini Mosalla today.

The fair, which is hosting 980 foreign publishers from some 90 countries, is open to the public tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. On May 7 and 14, the domestic publishers will continue serving visitors for an additional hour.

Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) is Iran’s most important cultural event. It is the biggest general public and sales fair in Central Asia and the Middle East.

Art Expo in Shiraz

The first art expo started in shiraz, south of Iran. The event is organized by Eco Cultural Institute and it is exhibiting art works by Iranian and Pakistani artists.

Works of 100 Iranian artists and 45 Pakistani artists include painting, calligraphy, photography, miniature art, calligraphy- paintings and sculptures.
