The Iranian storytellers have been chosen from provincial and regional contests while the foreign storytellers were selected from the nominees by a group of experts.
According to the festival's secretary Morteza Heidari, 1059 storytellers participated in the national storytelling contests and as 30 provincial festivals concluded, 171 storytellers attended the regional competitions. ]]>
