Iraj Bastami Music Awards PDF Print E-mail

Winners of the Iraj Bastami Awards were announced during a ceremony at the Vahdat Hall on Monday. Several artists and musicians including Mohammad Sarir, Hengameh Akhavan and Hossein Elahi Qomsheii attended the ceremony sponsored by the Iraj Bastami Foundation.

The Iranian veteran vocalist Iraj Bastami, 46, and his family died in the Bam earthquake that hit the city on December 26, 2003.

The veteran musician Nader Golchin was also honored at the ceremony. He went on stage and related a short memory about Bastami for the audience. The short film “Flare of Sigh” by Ehsan Safapur was screened at the event in which deceased Iranian musician Parviz Meshkatian praised Bastami’s voice. “I am no longer in mourning. Meshkatian and Iraj were both lovers, and their love drew you here this evening,” the Managing Director of the foundation Fatemeh Bastami mentioned.

Some 300 artists submitted their works to the secretariat out of which six male vocalists and one female vocalist were selected in four stages, the executive secretary of the event Mozaffar Shafiei announced. Ahmad Ebrahimi, Hengameh Akhavan, Hessameddin Seraj and Mozaffar Shafiei were the members of the jury for the event.

The six Iraj Bastami Awards went respectively to Amir Rafati (Tehran), Ali Yaripur (Tehran), Mohsen Siavashi (Marvdasht), Amir Zamani (Qazvin), Milad Mohammadi (Zahedan) and Hadi Geravandi (Kermanshah). Young vocalist Betroth Shurvarzi was the female winner of the contest.
