Five Iranian provinces are currently playing host to the second edition of the Fajr Visual Arts Festival.

The artistic creations, selected out of 10,000 entries, are showcased at exhibitions that opened in provincial the capitals Tehran, Khuzestan, Semnan, Yazd and Golestan on Tuesday.

The Saba Art and Cultural Institute and the Niavaran Cultural Center are the main venues hosting the festival in Tehran. During the opening ceremony on February 1, organizers dubbed the festival “international” but festival General Secretary Abbas Mirhashemi said on Tuesday that the cartoons section is the only part which is held internationally. The cartoons have been put on display at the Niavaran Cultural Center. In addition, the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art is holding two photo exhibitions on the sidelines of the event.
