Behnam Safavi to give concert in Toronto PDF Print E-mail

According to Tehran Times – The Iranian pop singer Behnam Safavi will give a concert in Toronto on September 26.

He is scheduled to perform songs from his latest album “Extraordinary” during the concert.

The 26th Fajr International Music Festival wrapped up on Sunday evening by announcing the winners in the different sections during a ceremony held at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall.

A group of Iranian bands and six bands coming from Armenia, India Azerbaijan, Netherlands, Slovakia and Greece competed in different halls in Tehran during the event, which ran from February 21 to 27.

The 3rd Fajr International Festival of Visual Arts wrapped up on Friday at Vahdat Hall in which a group of Iranian veterans were honored by receiving Fajr top medals.

The award-giving ceremony was held with the participation of Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hosseini, Deputy Culture Minister for Artistic Affairs Hamid Shahabadi, and a group of veterans.

Organizers of the 5th Fajr International Poetry Festival selected 200 poems for its final entries on Friday. “Over 40,000 works were submitted to the secretariat of the festival from which 200 were selected for the final judgment,” said secretary of the program Mahmudreza Ekramifar.

The collection was chosen by 50 experts and the jury is reviewing the final list, he added. The two cities of Zanjan in Zanjan Province and Birjand in South Khorasan Province will be hosting the provincial sections of the festival, opening on February 6 and 7 respectively. Several provincial veteran poets are scheduled to be honored during the program.

More than 1500 works are being assessed in the 1st evaluation stage of the 10th Iran Print Awards.

The Award's secretary Masoud Farshi-farid said:" The works submitted to the award's secretariat were in a great level of quality and quantity." As the new section of Print project's management was added to the contest he added:" Print industry fellows have welcomed the section very warmly." Moreover the entrepreneurship section was added to the award as well, he said adding the 100 projects were submitted to the section.

As the works will be assessed some 30 works will be shortlisted as the winners. The 10th Print Festival Contest will be held in 3 sections; "Management of print projects", "Print methods and processes" and "Entrepreneurship".

Works in different fields of visual arts ; Ghalam zani, Khatam kari, maliledoozi, Farshbafi, Firoozehkoobi, Moarragh, Monabbat, Minasazi, Kashikari and traditional needling  on subjects related to Imam Reza (A.S) have been received by the secretariat of the fifth Razavi visual arts festival.

The final ceremony of the festival will be held on 24th of Mehr 1389 in Farshchian  Talar in Isfahan.

The Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art hosts the official inauguration of the 3rd Fajr International Festival of Visual Arts here on Sunday.

The Iranian Artists Forum, Niavaran Cultural Center, Saba Art and Cultural Institute, Tehran’s Palestine Museum of Contemporary Art, along with the art centers in 20 other provinces will be hosting the event, the public relations office of the festival reported on Saturday. Six foreign countries of Austria, Italy, Syria, France, the Netherlands and Ghana will be joining Iran in displaying Iranian visual artworks during the festival.

Winners of the Iraj Bastami Awards were announced during a ceremony at the Vahdat Hall on Monday. Several artists and musicians including Mohammad Sarir, Hengameh Akhavan and Hossein Elahi Qomsheii attended the ceremony sponsored by the Iraj Bastami Foundation.

The Iranian veteran vocalist Iraj Bastami, 46, and his family died in the Bam earthquake that hit the city on December 26, 2003.

27th International Quran Competition announced the best reciters and participants in different sections of the event in a ceremony held on Wednesday at Tehran’s Summit Conference Hall.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Minster of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad Hosseini, as well as several literary and cultural figures attended the award presentation ceremony.
