“This year's festival has been warmly received by young and aspiring filmmakers from around the world,” said festival director Hashem Mirzakhani.

“Over 90 countries have submitted their works to the festival, which will be screened along with 2,000 Iranian productions,” he added.

Iranian filmmakers have sent over 500 documentaries, 850 narratives, 131 animations and more than 220 experimental works to take part in this edition of the festival, set to be held from Nov. 19 to 24, 2010.

Muslim countries such as Turkey, Lebanon and Egypt have greatly contributed to the event. Singapore, Morocco, Malaysia, Jordan, Bosnia, Algeria and Palestine are also among active Muslim participants this year.

The US, Poland, Belgium, Japan, Australia, Romania, Sweden, Denmark, Georgia, Belarus, Portugal, Serbia and Mexico are also among the countries who have sent their works to the annual festival.

Organized by the Iranian Young Cinema Society (IYCS), a member of the International Short Film Conference (ISFC), the 2010 TISFF will be held in national and International sections.

The national section will include 'National Competition,' 'Panoramas of Our Beautiful Homeland,' 'Guiding Light' and 'Flicker of Faith' categories.

The International competitors will vie under 'Manifestation of East' and 'Films of the Islamic World categories.'
