International section of 28th Fajr Film Festival wraps up PDF Print E-mail

More than 80 Iranian and international films competed for the Crystal Simorgh awards. Twenty-six films were national productions. The award for best film in the international section was given to "Ward Number 6" directed by Karen Shakhnazarov representing Russia. “Be Rang-E Arqavan” (In The Color Purple) by Iranian director

Ebrahim Hatamikia grabbed the prize for the best script.

The director of "The World Is Big And Salvation Lurks Around The Corner", Stephan Komandarev, received the special award of the Fajr festival. Vladimir

Ilyin won the best actor award for his role in “Ward Number 6”. Adrien Biniez took home the award for best director for his film “Gigante”. Meanwhile, the audience selected Iranian director Mojtaba Raei's “Asre Roze Dahom” (Evening of the 10th Day) as the best film of the festival.

Crystal Simorgh awards of the festival also went to a number of other films. The awards for best film and director in the international section were given to "True Noon" directed by Nosir Saidov of Tajikistan. The best screenplay award went to Bao-ping Cao representing China for his film "The Equation of Love and Death".

The Fajr festival is Iran's biggest and most popular cinematic and cultural event of the year.
