Tehran International Animation Festival owes its significance to the great receival by the well-known animation artists from different countries of the world; This attention has been so much that in the fifth edition of the festival more than 500 Iranian films and 61 countries participated with their works that included distinguished animation movies awarded by well known international festivals as well as Oscar winning and Oscar nominated movies.
According to this report, Tehran International Animation Festival, this year will be held in four main sections of the competition that include Iran Competition, International Competition and Out of Competition, Special Screening and Panorama.

6th Tehran International Animation Festival is held every two year aiming at creating an appropriate context for the exchange of ideas and techniques in animation and also as a ground for purposeful collection and presentation of works, discovery of capabilities and an encouragement for those new to the realm of animation to creativity and innovation; It also aims at developing capabilities while introducing techniques and new approaches for achieving a higher quality in animation productions. At the end of the festival, awards including golden, silver and bronze awards as well as special prizes will be awarded to selected works.

Animation lovers will be able to watch 4 top world animation movies in the 6th Tehran International Animation Festival

According to the Public Relations of Kanoon these films which are planned to be screened March 1st- March 6th in Tehran International Animation Festival movie theoater, have received 118 awards in top world festivals. Among these films, Maestro, directed by Geza M. Toth is an Oscar- nominee in the short animation section in 2007 and has received 44 universal awards all together. This film which is produced in Hungary has also won special audience prize of Anifest 2005, Budapest, Hungary, special audience prize Backup Festival 2006, Weimar, Germany, and special audience prize of Cinanima International Film Festival 2005, Espinho, Portugal. Skhizein, directed by Jeremy Clapin, has won 30 well-known world awards which include Cinessonne Prix special Lyceen of Leipzig, Germany, best short international and audience award of Leeds, Uk, International Critics Week Selection of Cannes Festival, France, audience prize of Annecy Festival, France, best animated film of Odense festival, Denmark, and the second best prize of Animadrid Festival, Spain.
Two other films in Tehran international animation festival are Sleeping Betty directed by Claude Cloutier produced in Canada, and My Happy End directed Milen Vitanov, produced in Germany have achieved alternatively 20 and 24 universal prizes that include best audience prize in Stuttgart 2008, best audience prize of NFB, best Canadian animation of Ottawa International Animation Festival 2007, best animation of Berlin International Short Film Festival, best student animation of Annecy International Animation Festival, and special audience prize of Cinanima International Festival for the first film, and best film for children in Animafest, Zagreb 2008, and Jury's special award for Graduation Films of Annecy 2008.
1400 works from Iran and 60 other world countries have been sent to the Festival Secretariat office for participation in 2009 Tehran Animation Festival. Selection Committee includes Muhammad Reza Husnaei, university professor, Asadullah Alaei, art manager and producer, Abdullah Alimurad, Moeen Samadi, Zohal Razavi, who have started selection of participating works in the festival. Selection Committee of Tehran 6th International Animation Festival announced

The selection committee of Iran and International sections of Tehran 6th International Animation Festival has started its work on December 25th. According to Public Relations of Kanoon the secretariat of this festival in Tehran, publicizing the members of the selection committee, announced the arrival of about 1500 animation movies from Iran and 60 other countries of the world. According to this report Dr. Muhammad Reza Husnaei, university professor, Asadullah Alaei, art manager and producer, and Abdullah Alimorad, Moeen Samadi, and Zohal Razavi, animation directors will select films in this festival. Selection team have starte their work from 25th of December and they will continue their work till January 9th.According to Muhammad Reza Karimi Saremi, the Festival Director, this year Tehran International Animation Festival will enjoy the presence of top world animation movies that have had a successful presence in many well known world festivals. He also adds that in spite of the passing of the deadline for works to be sent to the festival, there is a probability of an increase in the international film section. Tehran biennial International animation festival, March1st-6th, as in previous years will be the site of exchange of ideas between animation artists of Iran and the rest of the world, and also it will be a good chance for presentation of great animation movies produced in the last two years.
