First Islamic Film Market kicks off in Tehran PDF Print E-mail

The First Islamic Film Market kicked off here in Tehran on Saturday at the venue of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization.

Several cultural figures attended the opening ceremony. The third session of the General Assembly of the Islamic Radio and Television Union also opened on the same day.

In a conference Atbai told reporters,with 1681 participation in world events, 161 prizes and having 35 memnber in world prize juries he evaluates Iranian cinema's international presence a success.

He told according to European Cinema website Iranian cinema has received 1708 prizes in world events, this puts Iranian film makers in front of Sweden.

Best Film of the 28th film festival is "be Range Arghavan" directed by "Hatami Kia" amid controversies around the film.

Mohsen Sadatian who produced the best film got the prize while Hatami Kia thanked the judges for selecting the film. 

Tanabande won the prize for best actor and Javaherian won the best actresses prize.

Homayoun Shahnavaz got the best script writers prize and Hassan Karimi won the prize

More than 80 Iranian and international films competed for the Crystal Simorgh awards. Twenty-six films were national productions. Shiraz to host Fajr Film Festival with 24 films PDF Print E-mail

Shiraz will also be hosting the Fajr Film Festival this year with the screening of 24 Iranian and foreign movies.

The festival, opening on January 27 in several different cinemas, will be screening seven foreign movies besides a number of Iranian productions, said director of Shiraz Department of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mansur Tabiei. This is the ninth edition of Shiraz Fajr Film Festival, he said, adding that question and answer panels are scheduled to be held following each screening.
