The 23rd Tehran International Book Fair was opened officially at the Imam Khomeini Mosalla today.

The fair, which is hosting 980 foreign publishers from some 90 countries, is open to the public tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. On May 7 and 14, the domestic publishers will continue serving visitors for an additional hour.

Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF) is Iran’s most important cultural event. It is the biggest general public and sales fair in Central Asia and the Middle East.

According to official information, 1,900 Iranian and 1,700 international exhibitors

from 79 countries presented their publishing products in 2009. Estimated at 5 million, the crowds of visitors broke all previous records.

Tehran International Book Fair will run until May 15.
