The fiction section of the award is an important one and we are after reexamination of the works after the Jalal Award," added Ali Ojabi.

Tthe secretary of the award said the reassessment will take place by the judges of the Jalal Award and some newly-appointed judges. He highlighted the parallel nature of the Jalal and Book of the Year awards in fiction section.

He said in case a work has been selected for the Jalal award it will be praised as the book of the year without taking the award home. As Ojabi stated, in the recent edition of the Jalal Award, no winners were lauded in the fiction section. This may be one of the reasons why reassessments are in order for the book of the year award.

He expressed hope that some winners are announced for the coming book of the year award. Some 18,469 works have been submitted to the secretariat of the award and are being considered by the panel of judges. The 27th Book of the Year Award of the Islamic Republic of Iran will laud its winners in February 2010 in the presence of high-ranking officials of the country.

The second edition of the Jalal Award announced no winners in its fiction section.
