13th Int’l storytelling festival to kick off PDF Print E-mail

The 13th international storytelling festival, organized by the Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults (IIDCYA), will kick off tomorrow (Sunday). Iranian raconteurs as well as storytellers from 8 countries will attend the event.

The executive manager of the international storytelling festival said:” 15 raconteurs from England, Sweden, Ireland, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Tajikistan, Wales and Kyrgyzstan will travel to Tehran to attend the event. Heidari said: “in line with linking modernity and tradition the Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults will hold various schedules as the storytelling festival. He added:” As some 44 years has passed since IIDCYA’s creation, the storytelling festival has been executed permanently as nowadays it is counted as one of the institute’s official responsibilities. Pointing out that storytelling in Iran is not prevalent any more he added:” As the matter features a great role in conveying the national and traditional culture to the new generation the institute has revived this precious activity.” Chosen from the stories executed in the past 13 years, the institute’s teachers picked up the best and sent them to the festival’s secretariat, he added. He went on to say that more than 800 works from Iran and 8 other countries will participate, moreover, the works were assessed and 35 Iranian works and 10 foreign works were picked up.

Talking about the jury panel he said:” figures as Malekeh Chizari, Ali Khanjani and Nargess Jafari will assess the works in the primary level as in the final stage Ozra Vakili, Gholamali Kioumarci and Assadullah Shokraneh will judge the works.
