Secretary General of Ferdowsi Foundation said the World Ferdowsi Award is to be submitted in the UNESCO.

After one thousand years, Shahnameh is still the protector of Persian culture and history under thousands of historical events, said Movahedfard. "Undoubtedly, Iranians are indebted to Ferdowsi for vivifying Persian language and culture," he added.

"After the submission of the Shahnameh millennium as the first cultural Iranian event in the UNESCO, the Ferdowsi Foundation is trying to register the World Ferdowsi Award in the UNESCO." Movahedfard added, in line with the agenda, the foundation has many plans to perform as an active UNESCO member for some 192 other members. As an example, he said, Iran's permanent representative to the UNESCO is commanded to launch activities to better recognize Iranian dignitaries beginning next year.

Recognition of Persian dignitaries and their thoughts, organizing scientific, research, cultural and artistic groups, launching specialized and educational workshops for interested and young individuals, and strengthening the foundation and utilizing expertise of the elite and supporting the environment are among the main objectives of the foundation, said Movahedfard.
