Iran plans to hold a conference on international poetry in a bid to see firsthand the importance of understanding the impact of cultural diversity on literature.

Hosted by Iran's Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, the week long event will begin on October 19, 2009.

The conference, which will not be Persian language -oriented, is to serve as a venue for poets to hold poetry recitation, readings of papers and lectures.

The conference,will host 30 poets from 30 countries and will begin in Tehran and continue in Isfahan, with the closing ceremony to be held in Shiraz.
